Appointment to the USMA from the Missouri National Guard. Selected "Air Corps," then transferred to the Infantry. World War II veteran. He was the G-3 of the 77th Infantry Division from 1942-44. Next, he commanded the 306th Infantry Regiment in the 77th ID during combat in the South Pacific Theater. During the Korean War, COL Smith initially served on the X Corps, 8th Army Staff. He then was on the staff of GEN Mark Clark when COL Smith died in Tokyo. The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) lists COL Aubrey D. Smith on its Korean War Honor Roll.
