Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Cadet Kyle Burke on April 23, 2001:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Heinmiller,

I'm sure no words can describe what you are going through. I only hope that these words may help you in this difficult time. I was not a good friend of John's, but from the short time that I did know him, I could tell that he was an outstanding person. John and I had Calculus together during the first semester here at West Point. I was lucky enough to sit by him and enjoy his wonderful personality. He was the kind of guy who was always willing to help anyone out. Whenever I was struggling in Calculus, he was always there to help. Whenever he saw me in the halls he would always say hello with a glowing smile on his face. Everything about him brought joy to people's hearts. I honestly can't find the words to describe what a wonderful person he was, but I do know he will be missed, and will be remembered by all cadets here at the academy. Again, my most sincere condolences.

Respectfully,

CDT Kyle Burke
