John Heinmiller

West Point, 2004

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by CDT Dustin Greenhill on April 24, 2001:

I did not personally know CDT John Heinmiller, but when something like this happens so close to home it is a tragedy felt by all of those that surround it. Once again, I cannot personally attest to experiences shared with John. However, from the expressions heard from so many of his friends here, John lived as Abraham Lincoln once wished of himself, "I want it said by those who knew me best that I always plucked a thistle and planted a flower where I thought a flower would grow." I can say that John, as a cadet and a member of a corps squad team, has two families, with one being West Point, his team, and his company and friends, whereby none of which have anything bad to say about him. Furthermore, there are many people who share his memory and are thinking of him right now, and we can be happy that because of this he is very much alive.
