Here it is 33 years after we graduated and I can still remember Donnie Workman as if I had seen him just a few months ago. He was a great friend and a super team mate. In just the past few months, while coaching high school lacrosse here in Houston, I tried to teach a young goalie how to play the position and how to command the troops by remembering how Don (the "Troll") Workman played it. I've told kids here about Troll's parade ground voice, his fearless play in the goal, the good times we had on away game trips. We roomed together on every one of those trips and they are still great memories. Knowing him and playing lacrosse on the same defense with him for four years was a privilege. |
