Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jim Ramsden on June 15, 2001:

When I was 13 years old we moved to Joppatowne, MD as my Dad started an assignment at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG). As always when we moved around I got to know "new" friends in the neighborhood. Soon after moving in, I was down in our basement shooting pool with a couple of these new friends. My Dad came downstairs to briefly remind me that we were going out later to play some tennis. After he left, my two friends looked at me like I was from another planet. They were astounded that my Dad and I "got along" and actually did stuff together. For them it was a totally foreign concept. It was the first time I really grasped that the friendship that my Dad gave me was (and is) unique and special. Thanks Dad. Happy Father's Day.
