Services for Paul Sorg Reinecke, Jr., Col. (Ret), 85, will be held at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m. 12 October 2001. The family will receive friends in the church parlor at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with arrangements by Dunbar Funeral Home.

Col. Reinecke died Wednesday, October 10, 2001. Col. Reinecke was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, son of Col. Paul and Elsie Reinecke. He was a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, class of 1940. His first assignment as a Second Lieut. was at Ft. Jackson, S.C., serving in the 8th and 77th Divisions. He served three years in Germany and France as Intelligence Officer with the 100th Division during WW ll. Later he was Intelligence Officer of 10th Corps in Korea during the Korean War. He was an instructor at the Armed Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Va. and the Infantry School, Ft. Benning, Ga. Col. Reinecke was in the CIA in Washington, DC in 1953 and in the Defense Intelligence Agency in 1954.

He returned to Paris, France in 1957 serving in the European Headquarters, then to Ft. Jackson as Chief of Staff in 1961. He retired as Chief of Intelligence of the Fifth Army at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois, in January 1968.

His awards included the Dept. of Defense Commendation medal, Croix-de-Guerre with Silver Star and Legion of Merit.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ann Scott Reinecke; step-mother Esther Reinecke of Topeka, KS; sons and daughters-in-law Paul III and Joy Reinecke of Indialantic, Florida; Karl and Lisa Reinecke of Columbia, and daughter and son-in-law Ann R. and Pete Sullivan of Marietta, Ga. Grandchildren Kevin and Paul Reinecke, Peter and Kristen Sullivan and great grand-daughter Emma Reinecke, and brothers the Reverend Rod Reinecke of Burlington, NC and Dr. John Reinecke of Starkville, Mississippi.
