| Vern was my room mate during Plebe year. I found nothing wrong with him; on the contrary, he was a real "Sleeper." When we tried out for the pistol team, he easily qualified. In Plebe boxing he hit my nose so many times I thought it was broken. (He admitted that he had some lessons). In academics he started slow, but he never quit studying. I would guess that he gained 200 files by doing more studying than others of equal gifts. I am pleased and proud that he bacame a JAG officer and Texas judge in retirement. |
