Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Todd Tamburino on January 23, 2002:
Paul was and is one of my most vivid memories of those long four years. His intensity, dedication, and courage are what stories are written about. They are what inspired me and kept me going long after my body wanted to quit. Paul was a true competitor, sportsman, and teammate. I, and many other teammates, will never forget the game where Paul received a nasty cut. Without hesitation, Paul walked into the locker room where the trainer stitched the wound closed. He returned a few moments later to deliver the appropriate response to the unfortunate soul who initially cut him. Never give up.
I am truly happy to have finally met Paul's wife, Tricia, and his boys during our 10-year reunion. I am sure Paul is looking down at his family with extreme pride. Tricia's strength is inspiring. When I look at their boys, I see the same intense, wild eyes that Paul had. Someday, some unsuspecting defenseman will look up into those eyes just before a Haggerty flattens him and takes the puck away.
I wish that Paul's boys, as well as all future Army hockey players had a chance to know and learn from Paul. To his boys - Your Dad was a great man with a huge heart. Remember that always. To future Army hockey players - Army hockey lost one of its greatest veterans. Play hard, play with intensity, but play fair. You will always remember your days on the ice with THE TEAM.
Paul, you are missed more than words can say.
God bless.
