Farewell, young traveler, Silent friend; Shoulder high we bear you home. The flowers wreathed around your head Resonate the beauty of your quiet way Though your voice will echo nevermore. Farewell, young traveler, Well known and liked by all; Thank you for the hours you spent with us. For though you had so few to give, You gave of them so freely And brought light to our days of darkness. Farewell, young traveler, Seaward bound; May God bless you with sweet sailing. For though you cross the unknown sea, And we ashore are blind to its eternity, We know your strength, We know your love, We know your soul will triumph, And the fruits of heaven will be yours. Farewell, young traveler, And Godspeed. |
