Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Russell Toll on February 3, 2002:
I never knew CPL Miller, or Anthony very well. But I did have some contact with him and I can truly say that he was among the nicest upperclass I talked to. Coming back from duties and other things we have to do when some corporals come out and give us a hard time, we Plebes talk about the upperclass and which ones we hate. That guy is such a haze and that sergeant's an idiot and so on. But I never heard CPL Miller's name mentioned ever in that context. No one ever complained about him. All the Plebes I talked to said he was a really nice guy, not just saying it because he passed, but really meaning it. A buddy of mine in the company said CPL Miller saved him form quitting when he was about to make the decsion to leave this place. Others said he was fun to be around. Another friend of mine worked out with him quite a bit. The point of all that is that he involved himself in the lives of others. Knowing him really just on a professional, company level, and never really personally hanging out with him, I can still see the impact he had on the lives of my classmates, and fellow Greeks for that matter. I'll never understand why it had to be someone like him. He was faster and stronger than I'll ever be but his body still failed. We'll all try to explain it in different ways but the way I see it, God needed to Commission him a little earlier than expected.
