Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Emily on February 3, 2002:
I met Anthony during beast when we were injured for the eight mile road march. We rode in the back of this humvee with crates of nectarines and capri suns, tyring not to get our heads taken off by the branches. I think I laughed more during that ride, than I had in a month of beast. He had a great outlook on the entire thin. When we moved to our academic companies, Anthony helped me carry my trunk to the basement and we wound up sharing our locker for the year. I don't think he ever knew the combination to it, so I would get this phone call every time he had to get something. We had math together both years, and we were always board partners. We were both so lost in that class, just staring at the board until the teacher came over to help. The difference was that Anthony wanted to get it right, to keep trying. He was the same way with football. When his knee and ankle were hurt and this year when he had surgery on his hand, all he talked about was getting to play and how the team was going to win that weekend. Anthony was a great person, always ready to make a joke, caring about other people, and quietly determined in everything he did. I didn't know him as well as some other people, but I will miss everyday his optimism, his sense of humor, and the way he could make you smile with a just comment or a look.
