I believe I was the last to see Ralph alive. I was a FAC, and knew from the list of inbounds that Ralph was coming. As it happened, by sheer coincidence both Ralph and I landed separately at Bien Hoa just ahead of a ferocious thunderstorm and got together while we waited it out. We chatted about old times for about a half hour, then saddled up and took off again. Ralph never came back from that mission. I was shocked and saddened, but glad that I had been able to see him.
