Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Calvin on February 4, 2002:

I remember the first time I ever met Anthony when i was a Junior at fall practices. I usually don't remember freshmen because there are so many of them but I remembered Anthony because no matter what was going on at the time he was smiling. I was a wide receiver with him and throughout that year I became so close to him I felt like he was my little brother. He was always there for me when I was hurting in practice. He would ask me if I was all right and if I needed some water. No matter how many plays he had just run he would always give me his shoulder to lean on. I don't have much stamina and he could go 110% every play and he did. I used to look up to him so much. I never knew a harder worker in my entire life. Everyone that ever knew him couldn't help but love him. I can't remember I time that I didn't smile when I saw him coming my way. No matter what was going on I wanted to stop and just talk with him cause he always made me laugh. The day I broke my leg, him and I were running a route together. Just the site of me hurting like that made him ill and he was one of the first persons I saw when I came out of surgery. He came up to the hospital to see me more than anyone else and even tried to get me one of the nurses' numbers. He was making me laugh and cheering me up even in one of my most depressing times. That epitomizes Anthony - he always made me see the good in bad situations and was one of the most caring individuals i have ever met. I'm a better person for having known him and he will always live in my heart. I love Anthony and can't help but feel like I should have been there or done something for him, but I know there is no stopping God's perfect will. I miss him immensely and can't wait to see him in a much better place. You will always be in my thoughts Anthony.
