Bill and I belonged to the same Beast Barracks Platoon. He was tough and powerful with a lot of extra strength to lend a helping hand when I was exhausted, confused and too weak to endure the hardships of training. Many times I made it up those steep slopes only because Bill carried an extra rifle (mine) while pushing me ahead of him. I owe Bill a lot for those first two months of Cadet life.
