Arturo and I were not only classmates and Foreign Cadets but also members of the sparsely populated Spanish-speaking community of the Cadet Corps. We relished our rare meetings (we belonged to different Regiments and lived far from each other) to speak in our slightly different Spanish tongues. I probably did most of the talking as Art was the quiet one. I never saw him after Graduation Day as I reported to the Philippine Army and he returned to Guatemala.
