My unit lost two pilots in an accident during our JRTC rotation three days before Dustin died, but his death hit me as much or more than the two pilots that we lost, because I spent two very formative years with him. Dustin was always a great person to be around. We spent plebe and Yuk year together in F3, and he was never bitter or negative about what we had to do during those two years. His attitude rubbed off on the cadets around him, and I'm sure this attitude carried him through his time as an officer. The loss of Dustin is a loss not just to his family and friends, but a loss to the Army as a whole. |
