I was playing piano this morning at University College, Oxford. I looked up to see a plaque dedicated to James Floyd Ray, a USMA '59 grad and Rhodes Scholar. The plaque said that Capt Floyd died in Vietnam, and I wanted to draw a portrait of him as a cadet and frame it next to the plaque. His friends and family donated the furnishings for the music room, including the Steinway piano, which I had the honor of playing. I am a USNA '02 graduate. There is also a USMA 2nd LT at Univ with me now. |
