Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Mike Trollinger on April 4, 1998:

Ace,

I can't believe its been over 25 years since Carol and I last saw you, getting onto the train at Augsburg. You were going to Italy for leave before going to Vietnam. You told me you'd keep your head down, and they wouldn't get you. Well, they didn't get you, but someone else did. Whatever got you, I still miss you, every day.

Ace, I don't, and won't, forget those days. You were a wonderful friend, and we had a lot of fun together. Those days in the city, those parties at the Forrest Hotel, the party we had after graduation, those visits in Germany. They're all there, in my head, well preserved after all these years.

I just hope they don't have a "rock squad" in heaven . . . or maybe God has taught you how to swim by this time.

Hold down the fort until I get there.

Mike Trollinger
