Be Thou At Peace

Posted by MIKE HAZELRIGS on April 7, 1999:

I just found this site and feel the need to post immediately. I will return with more information after I have the opportunity to collect my thoughts.

MAURICE or "MIKE" was my father. As time passes, I become more and more aware of how lucky I was to be a part of his life. In an age where people were limited to their roots, he found the ability within himself to soar. Dad was the product of a middle class family living in rural Georgia. Before his brief stay was done, he had graduated from West Point, piloted jets in the Air Force, battled kidney disease, been an driving force at NASA and devoted countless hours to the betterment of children through his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America.

If ever there was an individual worthy of respect and praise it would be Mike Sr. I would hope that I would be able to emulate some of the successes that he demonstrated in his lifetime.

Though the years have passed, I would like to tell him that his granddaughter, whom he never met, even thinks of him. There are many mornings that I have spend on stand hunting that I wish we had a change to share...Dad, you are missed and will always be in our thoughts.

LOVE,
MIKE
