Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Brendan Melly on March 17, 1998:

The first time I met Hags was when he came to my house my senior year of high school. He came to recruit me to play hockey at West Point. While waiting for his arrival my parents and I talked how there was no way that I would go to a school like West Point. Then I spent a couple hours with hags and it was a totally different story. After he left my mother told me that if I turned out to be a man like Paul that she would be proud. We had just met hags and we could already tell what a sincere , caring, and passionate individual he was. Just seeing hags everyday would get you in a better mood because he was always happy and had good things to say. I never really thought of hags as a coach not because I didn't respect him but because he was more like a friend. Hags loved his wife and two sons more than any father could. He was a special man and will live through every heart he touched. One of the biggest compliments I have ever received came from hags when he was talking to my mother he said "Brendan is just like me" . If I can shed half as much love and life to other people as hags did my life will be a success. Hags your the best!
