Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Bob & Gerri McDowell on October 4, 1998:
To the Storch Family,
We would like you to know that we knew your son through our son (Brian '00) who was a fellow member of the swim team and who served as an honorary pall bearer at the Academy services for Rex. We met Rex at the 1997 Army-Navy game and while he was obviously not feeling well he showed good spirit. He spent some tailgate time with us and then went off with our son to join with the other swim team members in celebrating the day (even though it had been a crushing defeat on the field). We were very much looking forward to his joining us at this years game - but that is not to be and we are truly sorry.
The measure of a person's success exists in what others feel about him(her) - believe me Rex was really loved by his team mates and they will remember his spirit all of their lives. The example he has shown for each of them will shine through their young lives and then each will have to see if they can maintain that standard in their adult lives. We pray they will, and that will demonstrate Rex's success.
