Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Gene & Maureen Stone on October 5, 1998:
Ron, Leanne, John, R.C. and Randy -
We had the great pleasure of sharing a table with Rex at the Mentor's dinner during Plebe-Parent Week, when both he and our daughter were Plebes. Our daughter was placed at a different table, so Rex spent the evening entertaining the visitors from Oregon. He was a marvelous young man, intelligent and funny. Later we enjoyed his company when we all went up the hill to Col. Serio's home for some socializing after the meal. Col. Serio invited all the cadets to remove their jackets so they could be more comfortable, and we still remember how hard Rex laughed at Heather, in her tie-dyed T-shirt.
Since our daughter was also a team-mate of Rex's on the Corps Squad swim team, we have had periodic updates on his progress. We followed his battle of the last 2 yrs. with much hope and many prayers. Heather participated in both of his services, in Wallingford and at the Academy. We hope he knew just how much he was loved by his team-mates and fellow cadets. We will think of him often, with great fondness, and one day we will be with him again.
