I first met Jamie Morris early in his Plebe year by the Patton Statue. I liked him right away, because he impressed me as an intelligent and thoughtful young man. Over the next few years both my wife and I were to become well acquainted with this kind and decent Cadet. Many times I watched him practice the bag pipes down by the Amphitheater below the Battle Monument. I remember one day he helped to jump start our car over at the PX when the battery died. I bumped into Jamie many times throughout the years in many different places around the Academy. We had shorter and longer talks about all kinds of things. The longer I knew him, the more I learned to admire him. Last spring Marge and I attended a Tattoo held indoors at the Gillis Field House. We spent a good part of that day together with Jamie. It was a wonderful event that we will long remember. I last talked with Jamie this past October over by Grant Hall. I could not know it would be the last time we would ever meet. Marge and I will greatly miss Jamie and his charming way of brightening our day. He was a kind and caring soul. May God grant Jamie's family and loved ones comfort and strength. He will forever be in our hearts and prayers.
