Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Joe & Sherri Ross on April 11, 2003:

The times I spent with Jimmy are some of my fondest memories. Jimmy is the greatest friend in the world and I will cherish these memories and our friendship always. One of my favorite memories of Jimmy is the way he always came up to you, gave you a hug, and told you he loved you. I was amazed of how inhibited he was in sharing his feelings.
At West Point, Jimmy and I attended mass together. Every Sunday, I stopped by Jimmy?s room and we would walk up to the chapel. Afterwards, Jimmy and I would hang out in the mess hall, discussing the homily. Jimmy always had incredible faith and I felt blessed to be apart of his inner circle of friends. Another incredible memory is my summer at Camp Buckner. Jimmy, Weasel, Tony Daniels, and I laughed hysterically for two solid months and we still managed to set records in every military event for our platoon. We had a blast!
During our breaks as Cadets, Jimmy and I would drive to Maryland together where his sister Laurie would pick him up at my sister?s house in Columbia. I enjoyed those hours in the car with Jimmy because we would talk about our frustrations of West Point, how we longed to see our families, and our plans after graduation. He always said that he would be President of the United States and I believed him unequivocally. He was a great listener and always spoke from his heart when giving advice.
Jimmy is no longer with us here on earth, but his legacy of being the perfect friend will stay in our hearts forever.

We love you, Jimmy!
