| Bill was my roommate for part of our three years at USMA. In academics he was brilliant beyond belief. The fact that he never showed any form of superiority, proved to me that real talent does not boast. He was appointed by Harry Truman who was his neighbor in Independence, MO. Aware of that,I conceded from that that he might become Chief of Army Engineers before I became Chief of the Air Corps. Neither reached the top of our branch, but as we had fun together as cadets, we had fun fighting the glorious fight. |
