Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Katie (Powell) Matthew on August 13, 2003:

How does one explain Leif to someone who's never met him, who just happened across his name on CNN last week, or who saw it on a website explaining why this war is wrong? It's hard to put in words what Leif stood for, because any of us who ever had any contact with him have a piece of that indescribable sensation pumping through us. He had light and fire in his veins that cried out to be shared with the world. From the moment I met him and began singing praises with him, I could see that light was only completely free when he witnessed to others through that guitar of his. He brought me closer to God and His purpose for me than anyone could back then, and stood by to make sure I had a friend along the path. Leif was a man that made people wonder what makes some give up everything for God, country, and family without regret; why some will continue to press on when it gets hard and carry others on their shoulders through the worst of it.

It is my hope and prayer that when those who missed the opportunity to know him see his name on a screen they will at least wonder these things, and that enrgy of selflessness and unconditional love will pulse through them for just a moment. After all, that's really what he wanted to share with everyone he met.

To my brother,
sing a song of love,
and sing a song of praise
Tell the King I love him
and Praise His holy name...

"You alone are my hearts desire and I long to worship Thee..."

Your Sis in Christ,
Katie
