Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Steve Murphy (Iraq) on August 24, 2003:
I'll never forget the last time I saw Jimmy. It was the afternoon before the war kicked off. I was heading out to my aircraft and ran into him. We talked briefly, both with a lot of things on our minds. Our last words to each other were to "fly safe". I wish I would have spent more time with him then but I'm glad that I have one last memory of him.
Jimmy was a great man and a great friend. I met him our senior year in high school at Boy's State and followed him to WP and then on to flight school at Rucker. He always had a smile on his face and a good story to tell. His antics were legendary and made him who he was- funny, compasionate, and a true friend. While we didn't stay in touch much over the years I always knew that when I ran into him I would have a friend to talk to.
Jimmy- you will be missed by all who knew you. My sympathies to your family. May you know how much he was loved and appreciated by all.
Godspeed Jimmy
