Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Kathy Blackstock on November 6, 2003:

To the Bryant family:

My memories of Todd are of a fourth grade student in my class at Palm Crest Elementary in La Canada, California, in 1989-90. His mischievous smile, up-to-any-challenge attitude, wit, and boundless energy have had a place in my heart throughout the years.

One memory, especially treasured, is his response to my introduction of a creative and challenging team activity with the theme of exploration and new frontiers. He stood up, raised his arm in the air, and shouted, "Going boldly where no kid has gone before!"

I'm truly saddened by his loss, and deeply honored that he gave his life for all of us. "Going Boldly Where No Kid Has Gone Before...Todd Bryant" has been on the wall of my classroom from the day he spoke the words, and will continue to be so for as long as I am a teacher.

With love, Kathy Blackstock
