Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Gary LeRoy & Family on November 17, 2003:

My wife, Lori was asked at a job interview, "How do you motivate yourself when having a 'bad day'?"

She responded, "As long as you're not going to a funeral, it's a good day."...

Palmer called my cell phone that Friday night & told me Todd had been KIA. At the time, I was stopped on the 91, in worse than usual Friday night traffic. It felt like a kick to the gut, & made me realize that once again, I had let the 'little things' become important. I got home that night (& much to their displeasure) I hugged both of my sons. I told them I loved them, & how proud I am of them.

The rest of my ride home was spent remembering & reflecting on the memories I have of Todd. All of them include Todd & Colin, Colin & Todd. Todd going to the Poe's, or Colin going to the Bryant's. Back & forth, back & forth they went, but rarely one without the other.

I marveled at a couple of things:

1. Linda's ability to get Todd to walk or ride all the way around the cul-de-sac instead of just crossing the street.
2. Todd's ability to maneuver a bike, wearing more pads & safety gear than an NFL linebacker!

All of that padding paid off the one time Todd contemplated crossing the street instead of going around. Todd, (in full safety garb) was riding on the side walk in front of our house. As he nervously contemplated cutting across the street, he looked over his shoulder to see if ever vigilant Linda was watching... and then he ran into Jim & Judie's mailbox & landed in their brick planter! Mom's have funny powers!

Larry, Linda, Tim & Tiffany, our hearts ache for you. Your Ave. Juan Diaz neighborhood is grieving with you, & we are standing by, willing to lend a hand with whatever help you may need.

Please know that not a trip past your house goes by with out a silent prayer for Todd, a respectful nod, or a wish for your well being.
Please accept our heartfelt thanks for your family's contribution to our nation in the pursuit & defense of FREEDOM, for ALL PEOPLE, EVERYWHERE.

God Bless You - May you find comfort for your hearts, peace for your souls & the strength to carry on.

God Bless Todd- May you rest in peace with the souls of other fallen heroes, never to be forgotten.

God Bless America...

Gary, Lori, Scott & Billy LeRoy
