Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Michael Baka on November 21, 2003:

Dear Nate,

It's hard to believe your no longer with us. We had some great times together at Buckner and in Company G3 during our Cow and Firstie years. It seems like only yesterday we were pulling late lights, while working on an Aerospace project or studying for another WPR. I will never forget your infamous rack robe...as soon as you put that thing on you were out at your desk. I would continue to stay up to study and somehow you still managed to score higher on our WPRs. How did you do it?

I'm so grateful that we were able to see each other earlier this year in Columbus, GA and that I was able to meet Kristen. It was really nice to reminisce of all our good times at West Point. I wish I knew that this would be the last time we would see each other.

You were so full of life and always able to make others laugh. Thanks for always being there for all of your friends. I'm sorry I can't be at your funeral....I really wish I could say good-bye to you one last time.

I'm not sure if you heard, but Cathy is due with our baby girl in February. I will enjoy telling my children stories of our times together. I will be deploying to Iraq shortly after the baby is born. We've never been to Utah, but I promise that Cathy and I will visit your resting place someday.

I will never forget you...faithful friend...brother in life and death.

God Bless and Farewell,
-Mike
