Born October 22, 1928 - Died July 18, 1987
Larry James Larsen was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota on 22 October 1928 and was appointed to West Point from the 1st Congressional District.
His West Point classmates recall: "The great dane's booming voice was as familiar a sound in the halls of K-2 as in the choir and glee club where he was an outstanding bass. But vocal cords were not the only muscle-bound traits exhibited by Larry. His muck-boning on the wrestling squad failed to hamper his accumulation of first section seats. More lasting, though, were his efforts as center on a winning Engineer Football Team." During his cadet days Larry went out for Wrestling all four years and was on the Chapel Choir and with the Glee Club as well; was with the Skeet Club plebe year; was with the German Club yearling, cow, and first class years, played Engineer Football as center, the writer being his right guard, cow year; and was a Cadet Sergeant his first class year.
Upon graduation Larry went in the Air Force and after flying training reported to the Tactical Air Command Squadron at Ardmore AFB in 1953. In 1957 Larry was named to the Staff & Faculty at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1976 Larry was assigned to Headquarters, United States Air Force. Larry retired from the United States Air Force in 1980 as Colonel.
Larry died in Washington, DC on 18 Ju1y 1987.
