Born March 23, 1928 - Died July 8, 1988
Charles Crawford "Charlie" McIntosh was born in Walkerville, West Virginia on 23 March 1928 and was appointed to West Point from the 3rd Congressional District. At West Point his classmates observed: "Charlie came to West Point with a college degree, a guitar, an extensive vocabulary, a quick, caustic, laconic wit, and a lot of drive. He is leaving five years later with another degree, a better guitar, a more extensive vocabulary, the same indomitable wit, and a lot of ability." Charlie was a member of the Dialectic Society and the Ski Club. On graduation Charlie went in the Signal Corps and after completing the Basic Signal Officers Course reported to the 16th Signal Operations Battalion where he served through 1951. His next assignment turned out to be his last military assignment. He went with the 17th Signal Operations Battalion in Europe and served until 1953. In 1954 Charlie resigned his commission to attend the New York Medical College. He obtained his Medical Doctor degree in 1960 and practiced medicine in Houston, Texas until his death on 8 July 1988.
Charlie's widow, Peggy makes her home in Vero Beach, Florida.
