Born November 11, 1929 - Died May 25, 1999
Edward Rudolph "Rudy" Prince, Jr. was born in McDade, Louisiana on 11 November 1929 and was appointed to West Point from the 4th Congressional District.
His West Point classmates recall: "Rudy, a true blue Yankee from northern Louisiana, was M-1's star nudger. A sackoid first, and then a gymoid, he was a familiar face around the basketball courts. We will remember Rudy for his ready smile and willingness to help the goats and others. We're all sure his leadership of '51 will carry over to the Engineers. Using no crystal ball, we predict happiness and success for 'webfoot.'"
During his cadet days Rudy was on the Ski Club plebe year, on the French Club, the Pointer Staff, and the Public Information Detail his plebe and yearling years, on the Debate Council cow year, and on the Camera Club yearling, cow, and first class year. Rudy was a Cadet Lieutenant his first class year.
On graduation Rudy surprised his classmates and went in the Air Force and after pilot training reported to the 2nd Flight Squadron where he served until 1954. In 1965 Rudy resigned his Captain's commission in the Regular Air Force and accepted appointment as a Major in the United States Air Force Reserve. Rudy also went back to school and obtained a Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from North Carolina State College. In 1966 Rudy was appointed Vice President of Digital Consultants, Inc., and in 1970 became Chairman of the Board and President of Digicon Inc. Rudy made his home in Houston, Texas.
He died on May 25, 1999 in Phoenix, Arizona. Arlie Sherman represented the class at the ceremonies.
