Stanley Stuart Scott

Born October 17, 1928 - Died June 10, 1988

Stanley Stuart "Scotty" Scott was born in Yonkers, New York on 17 October 1928 and was appointed to West Point from the 27th Congressional District.

His West Point classmates recall: "A Southern Gentleman from Virginia, Scotty came to West Point with the ideals of a friendly, sociable, fun loving individual. His ability to make a friend was unexcelled. A sound psychologist, he possessed an abundance of sound sages. In the boxing ring we can find no better competitor. His driving aspiration has provided him with an ambition to get all that is possible out of life."

During his cadet days Scotty went out for the Boxing Team all four years and was Team Captain his first class year, and was a Cadet Sergeant his first class year.

Upon graduation Scotty went in the Infantry and after completing the Basic Infantry Course at Fort Benning, Georgia reported to the 39th Infantry where he served through most of 1952 but then went with the 160th Infantry where he served until 1953 and was decorated with the Bronze Star Medal for distinguished heroism against an enemy, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. In 1960 Scotty was assigned to the 20th Infantry Regiment in the Canal Zone where he served until 1962. Scotty's last military assignment was to Headquarters, 5th Army where he served until 1972 when he retired from the United States Army in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Scotty's widow Mrs. Stanley S. Scott (Penelope) makes her home in Anderson, South Carolina.
