Everette Taylor

Born November 15, 1923 - Died May 11, 1985

Everette "Pops" Taylor was born in Winfield, Alabama on 15 November 1923 and was appointed to West Point from the 7th Congressional District.

His West Point classmates recall: "Eyes that could laugh at the world, yet understand it, too. An air about him that said, 'I can do it' - and he could. A laugh, with a lucid tongue behind, and bottomless perception beneath. The reference book of women, tales, and sense. He knew his way around - he knew himself. The Grand Old Man - a good man. There is your cast, Steve, you write the plot. You can do far better than I."

During his cadet days Pops was with the Handball, Pistol and Spanish Clubs first class year; and was a Cadet Captain his first class year serving as Company Commander of Co H-2.

Upon graduation Pops went in the Air Force and after flying training reported to his first duty station. In 1966 Pops was assigned to the Analysis Division, Department of the Air Force and served until 1971 when he retired from the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Pops died in Belk, Alabama on 11 May 1985.
