Be Thou At Peace

I met Eric at the Armor Captains Career Course and had the pleasure of spending time with him there and during the Cavalry Leaders Course. From the onset I could tell he was a gregarious guy who loved life. He always had a smile on his face and a good story to tell. I was fortunate enough to see him about a month ago here in Iraq when my Squadron did an officer's call with his unit. He was quick to find me after the formalities to share some stories. I was glad I was able to shake his hand before I left that night. I didn't know Eric that well but I can tell that he will be missed by superiors, peers and subordinates alike. You could tell when you first met him that he was a special breed. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. Be thou at peace. CPT Steve Murphy USMA 1995 Balad, Iraq |
