I offer my most heartfelt condolences to Eric's family and his fianc? Till now, Eric was always remembered as a phenomenal high school basketball player ? a man among boys. His talent was recognizable as early as junior high. When Eric?s family moved to a neighboring town, we knew his athletic abaility and leadership skills would make his new team a lot better ? and more difficult to beat. That?s my most ingrained memory. I may have seen him once since. Yet that lasting image of Eric as an opponent on the basketball court is now being replaced with an image of him as a protector, defender and leader of men and women.
