Be Thou At Peace

While my time with my grandpa was shortened due to his heroic battle with cancer, I have a lot of wonderful memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I was very young when my grandfather passed away but he was more than a retired Lt. Colonel in the Air Force. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was the most brilliant man I had ever met and probably ever will meet. It didn't matter how sick my grandpa felt, his family always came first. Everyone around him could sense how much pain he was in but he kept fighting. That shows true heroism. I never heard my grandpa complain except maybe if the baseball game got cancelled or someone interrupted his show. My grandpa was very devoted to my brother and me. He did whatever possible to make our childhood as fun as possible. He took us on trips, got us into 4-H, and got my brother and I both a horse to participate with. He was very gentle hearted but could be very stern if pushed. Well I just wanted to write something about my grandpa. He is missed very much.
