Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Chuck Baker on August 5, 2007:
Dear Kenny, It has been many years since I had the opportunity to be with you and 11 other classmates as we decided to stay behind and learn more academics at USMA. SRAP was a different time for us. There were many positives and a few negatives as we watched our classmates graduate.
I remember your hospitality in inviting me to come to your house that summer. I enjoyed meeting your family. And I still remember the song playing on the cassette player in the car that had a skip on it. You happened to hit the dashboard just at the right time so it stopped skipping. I still tell the story to others.
I remember your smile that always was on your face. It made others smile. As I sit here and write this, that vision of you smiling comes to mind. As always, you are making me smile again.
I truly believe that the good die young. Maybe that's the reward for being so good. On this side of Heaven, we can only imagine what it is like. On your side, please keep smiling at us and give us strength when we feel down.
Thanks for your friendship, even though it was just a few years.
God's peace be with you always.
Chuck.
