Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Thomas C West on February 22, 2004:

Jack(or Uncle Jack as he was known to me) had the potential to greatness, after the left West Point, in what became the United States Air Force; even to the position of Chief of Staff. Unfortunately fate had other plans for him as he was cut down early in his career by a major aircraft accident that almost took both his legs. He was not deterred by this and expressed his leadership in positions, both at West Point where he became Assistant Head of the Department of Military Topography and Graphics and later became Dean of Engineering at the University of Florida.
But to me he became my second father, my mentor, my hero. We spent much time together hunting and fishng. I ascribe what little I have become to his guidance and caring during those formative years. He is sorely missed.
