Be Thou At Peace
Posted by LtCol (ret) Edwin L. Kennedy, Jr on December 8, 2007:
Colonel Duggins is the son of a WWI veteran and a veteran himself of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was my father's room mate as a cadet and a good family friend over the years. I met Colonel and Mrs. Duggins as a young enlisted soldier when I was at the Prep School in 1971 and maintained contact with them over the years. Colonel and Mrs. Duggins came to visit us a number of times during my tours at Fort Leavenworth where he served as the "Oldest Grad" at Founders Day dinners. A finer couple you could not meet. Colonel Duggins was always cheerful and upbeat, sharing his perspectives on life and the Army. His company will be sorely missed at Fort Leavenworth Founders Day dinners. In the Spring of 2005, Colonel Duggins took his two daughters to West Point where he and Mrs. Duggins were married. My cadet son was honored to be able to show the Duggins around and fondly remembers the visit. I spoke with Colonel Duggins about a week before he passed and he was as upbeat as usual, involved in the innumerable civic and historical organizations that he belonged to. I know that he is sorely missed at his home in Marshall, Missouri, as well as by his many other friends and family. I am proud to have known such a fine soldier and man.
