Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Ray Kimball on March 1, 2004:

I had the privilege of serving with Jimmy as a company commander in 3ID during OIF. He was a consummate professional in every sense of the word. He cared deeply about his soldiers and spent every waking moment ensuring that his troops were ready for battle. Five days before LD, all the company commanders were called together for a talk with LTG Wallace, the corps commander. He and I talked for a long time after that about teaching, and how excited we would be to work with cadets again. We parted with a promise to link up again in Baghdad and figure out our plan of attack. Fifteen days later, he was dead.

Jimmy's soldiers liked him and respected him. From the private soldier to the crustiest warrant officer, each of his soldiers knew that Jimmy would lay down his life for any of them if the need arose. After we arrived in Baghdad, the local MTF (Maintenance Test Flight) area was named MTF Adamouski, the only airspace in OIF named after an individual. It was a fitting tribute to a highly skilled aviation leader.
