Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Paula Hubbard on February 8, 2008:
I am a USMA mom in Houston; our oldest son graduated from West Point in May of 2007, and our youngest will be entering this summer. My first job after graduating from Baylor in 1973 was to work on the Congressional staff of Jim Collins, a Republican from Dallas and, more specifically, to handle academy nominations for him. Tom served as Chairman of our interview committee and was a great friend to me during those years and a great representative (and cheerleader) for USMA. I gradually lost contact with him after moving to Houston, but have often wanted to thank him. All that I learned from Tom during those years proved very helpful while my son was applying for and attending West Point. Little did I ever dream that I would put all that information to personal use or that I would ever have such family ties to the academy.
Tom was a wonderful gentleman. I know that his family and West Point miss his greatly.
