Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John Walters on March 1, 2008:

Chris...

It has taken me this long just to "come to grips" with that night in Taji - shortly before your flight...

I am sorry I could not change the events of that night, though I always see your face; I am so sorry you are not here to talk to in person, though I always think of you when I need strength. I remember talking to you as a young plebe on the pistol team, again when you came to us as a new commander in our battalion, and again on the fields of combat. I do not know a of finer man to take the Outlaws into combat: No greater love hath a man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

We were there together and you will NEVER be forgotten.

"May it be said well done, be thou at peace."
