Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bill Miller '68 on March 12, 2008:

I didn't know Rick personally, but knew of him as a classmate. I always admired his determination and effort to graduate, even though he had many chances to fail. Several years ago I was walking through the cemetary at West Point, looking at classmates tombstones and when I saw Rick's I was moved in a way I have never been. To think of all the effort that he gave to earn the chance to serve in Vietnam as a West Point Graduate and to be killed less than two years after graduation marked him as a distinguished graduate in my mind. Every time I return to the cemetary I make a point of spending a few quite moments at his grave. I never knew him but I feel a strong admiration and respect for this distinguished graduate.
