Col. (ret.) Daniel J. DeLany
1935-2008

Daniel Joseph DeLany, 73, died unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep April 12 in Mesa, Az.
He was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Syracuse, N.Y., to Frederick Thomas and Monica (Skehan) DeLany.

Daniel was a vice president at Hughes Helicopters in Culver City, Calif., and McDonnell-Douglas Helicopters in Mesa. He retired (for good) from BMY in York, Pa., in 1995.
He spent his retirement doing what he enjoyed most -- building, restoring and flying airplanes from Falcon Field with his friends and fellow aviators.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maureen Ann (Ashe) DeLany, daughters Catherine Ann Farrell, York Pa., and Carolyn Michele DeLany-Reif, Portland, Or., and sons Daniel Joseph DeLany Jr., Portland, Or., and Patrick Michael DeLany, Salt Lake City. He had 11 grandchildren -- Sean Farrell, Emma Farrell, Liam Farrell and Patrick Farrell; Toby Reif, Sara Reif and Holly Reif; Margaret DeLany and Quinn DeLany; and Bridget DeLany and Griffin DeLany.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church, 1534 N. Recker Road, Mesa, AZ 85205.
