Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Sue Bauer Agnew on April 20, 2008:

When I was in college in the 1950s, my cousin Ralph invited me and my mother to spend a weekend at West Point. He was so gracious, and he made sure we received the royal treatment. But the highlight of the visit was when he escorted me to a cadet dance. As a self-conscious, overweight coed, I didn't have much of a positive self-image, but Ralph treated me as if I were a prom queen. His kindness and attention were a turning point in my life. He probably never knew how he changed me--it was just the way he was. Ralph was naturally the epitome of a gentle-man.
