John F Kurth

West Point, 1995

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Michelle Robbins on March 26, 2004:

When I was a plebe, Hans Kurth was my hero. And it never really changed, even after graduation and PCSing, and deployments came and went. Hans was a leader and a standard bearer, and a man whose entire being radiated leadership, professionalism, kindness, and competence. He was everything you're supposed to be when you attend and graduate from West Point. He was everything I wanted to be. And he's one of the very few for whom I know that this was the way he would want to pass from our time now to the time that is eternal: as a soldier, as a leader. He will always be the epitome of duty, honor, country. He will always be the quasi-autonomous strike-force of standards. And he will always be, in my very fondest memories, proof of how great a man can be.
