Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Glenn L. Allen III on March 29, 2004:

When I was a boy, my dad was stationed at West Point in the mid- to late-1950s. Our family lived two doors down from Col. Phil Toon and his family. All of us kids were friends, played together, and had run of the whole reservation. West Point was a great place to grow up. One fact about Col. Toon few people may know, is that he had a small roll in the 1955 movie "The Long Grey Line." There is a scene in the movie where one of the cadet classes is graduating at Battle Monument and Col. Toon is the officer who is calling out the graduates names as they receive their diplomas. I have wondered over the years where his family is; so if any Toons see this, please E-mail me. Your dad was a fine man, and I'm sure you still miss him to this day.
