Be Thou At Peace
Posted by M. Lynn Kole on May 23, 2008:
Dear Mrs. Hecker, It is easy to see where your son got his love for the English language. Your beautiful letter brought tears to my eyes as I read what you so lovingly shared about your son. My heart is broken for you as his parents, his brother, his wife and his young family. Thank you for the sacrifices that your family has made and continues to make on behalf of this great country.
I never knew my Grandfather because he was killed in WWI at the tender age of 24. Of course, my Mother never knew her father either as she was just 2 months old. I visited his grave in France in 1975 and will never forget the sight of all those white crosses stretching out for what seemed like an eternity.
I don't pretend to understand your pain, but I do hope the Lord Jesus Christ will mend your broken hearts in time although your life has forever been altered.
Thanks for sharing about your beautiful son and I only wish he could have realized some of his other goals and dreams. We are a lesser nation without him and I know he will be missed by all who knew him. God bless you!
